In the early days of 1997 I started this website and it grew into a monster. I spent countless hours working on it. It was my great work of art. I wanted others to enjoy it, but mostly it was all for my own personal enjoyment. In the early years the internet was still pretty new and modems were real slow. Digital cameras were super expensive so most of my pictures were captured from a video camera and then made real small and the quality level was kept down so it wouldn't take five minutes for a page to load with a 28.8 modem. As technology progressed, the site progressed with it, video clips were added, pictures got a bit bigger and the possibilites of what could be done kept growing and growing. There were times when bmx.cc seemed like a non-paying, full-time job. At times I got burnt out and just didn't feel like updating as much anymore. Other websites kept popping up and local sites were covering the same events that I was covering, so I didn't have to update everything and cover everything as much anymore. As 2007 rolled around, I kept planning on doing something special for the 10 year anniversary of probably the oldest bmx website in the world, but instead I let the feeling of being burnt out on it and the stress of working a 50 hour per week job catch up to me and I just stopped updating the site. That year I ended up just riding my bike more than I had in years, mostly street. I was progressing more than I had in years. Then there was trouble at the local skatepark, a place I had helped build and helped run over the years. They were going to close down, the current owners couldn't afford to keep it going. I had the chance to step in and purchase the place, and since then it has been quite time consuming.
